Sliding Paint

Flickr: Photos from Mike6

I’ve made up this wooden board by pouring black household gloss paint onto it, but its been lying flat in the middle of the room drying off for a long time. Its also been getting in the way.

I thought that it would be ok to stand it up ready to paint, considering that I did it 2 months ago. However, it has sunk on one corner. I might have poured it too thickly, hence the little problem.

Though actually, I quite like it, and it might work with what I want to paint.

We’ll see.

  1. i too can see how the character of the sunken edge could work to your advantage in a picture. i like the thickness, the use of thick layers. was it you that told me that this is what guggi had mastered? his paints are quite thick, sometimes look like his bowls are painted with tinted peanut butter LOL! but i note the high gloss in the things you photograph.

    great work mike. glad to have found your work here. take care, and stay close,

    sammi =)

  2. I think Guggi used artists oil paint rather than the household paint that I use.

    If you like chunky built-up paint, you might like Anselm Kieffer.
